Canadian Accredited International Offshore K-12 Private Schools and Curriculum

Canada is globally recognized for its high quality K to12 education system. Over the years Canadian students have consistently performed at the top of International Tests such as the International PISA Tests. HEG is experienced with developing Canadian Offshore International Schools using a variety of the Canadian accredited curriculum, or a hybrid to match your regional needs. Provided below is a list of Canadian educational curriculum that could be utilized for your new school.

British Columbia Ministry of Education

Diversity is one of the most prominent features of British Columbia’s society and their schools. In its design, the provincially prescribed curriculum supports an education system in which all students are fully participating members of a community of learners and can develop their individual potential. There are a number of BC accredited offshore schools in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.

Alberta Education

Alberta’s Early Childhood Services (ECS) to Grade 12 curriculum is outlined in provincial programs of study, which identifies what students are expected to learn and do in all subjects and grades. The curriculum is designed to help students achieve their individual potential and create a positive future for themselves, their families and their communities. Alberta provides international offshore school accreditation.

Saskatchewan Ministry of Education

The Curriculum and E-Learning Branch is committed to working collaboratively with partners to enhance the PreK-12 learning program and to provide supports to the Learning Sector by:

  • Refining and implementing a provincial vision for strengthening the learning program and the use of technology in education:
  • Providing a range of consultative and advisory supports;
  • Co-ordinating systems of people, processes, and infrastructure to provide access, deliver programs, manage projects, and ensure accountability;
  • Developing and implementing policy, effective practices, and supports for the Learning Sector;
  • Managing provincial networks on behalf of the Learning Sector;
  • Promoting an innovative learning environment in the province through strategic professional development using a variety of methods and technologies;
  • Developing and implementing exemplary curricula/courses that reflect research and the context of Saskatchewan teachers and learners; and,
  • Identifying, evaluating, developing, recommending, and distributing resources to support teaching and the achievement of learning outcomes.

Manitoba Education

A Foundation for Excellence is the base for all other Kindergarten to Grade 12 (Senior 4) curriculum documents in Manitoba. Manitoba provides international offshore school accreditation. Within the various subject areas, the following types of curriculum documents are being developed, as required:

  • Curriculum frameworks of outcomes and standards;
  • A foundation for implementation documents;
  • Teacher support documents;
  • Although the majority of curricula are published in print form, the Department is moving increasingly toward electronic publication of documents. As well, policy documents and independent study and teacher mediated courses for distance delivery.

Ontario Ministry of Education

Here you'll find curriculum documents and exemplars spanning Kindergarten to Grade 12. Ontario does not provide active international offshore school accreditation any more. The achievement charts provide guidelines for assessing students' work. "Exemplars" are samples of actual submitted work with notes explaining how marks were arrived at.

Quebec Ministry of Education, Leisure, and Sport

This section describes the curriculum in Quebec. Most of the information is in French; however some documents are available in English.

New Brunswick Ministry of Education

The responsibilities within Curriculum Development include identifying the goals and objectives of the instructional program for public schools. Curriculum Development personnel oversee development and introduction of specific curricula in all subject areas and recommend both print and non-print instructional resources. Recommending the purchase of equipment used to support the prescribed curriculum is also a responsibility. Subject specialists advise on instructional organization and program management. They work with school districts and others to establish a quality education program that develops the whole person. New Brunswick provides international offshore school accreditation.

Nova Scotia Ministry of Education

The Learning Outcomes Framework comprises a series of statements describing what knowledge, skills, and attitudes students are expected to demonstrate as a result of their cumulative learning experiences from Grade Primary to graduation. Nova Scotia provides international offshore school accreditation.

PEI Department of Education and Early Childhood Development

This section is of special interest to administrators and educators in the early childhood sector and the public school system. You will find documents and resources that support teaching and learning and information that describes our early childhood and school programs and services. PEI provides international offshore school accreditation.

Newfoundland Ministry of Education

The Program of Studies is an annual publication of the Newfoundland and Labrador's Department of Education. Its purpose is to list the curriculum textbooks and other resources authorized for Kindergarten to Grade 12 in the specified school year.
